Another cushion

It's been a long time, I know, but a move and Christmas has kept me very busy. Limited amounts of money meant having to make some of my presents this year, which in the end included a couple of cushions and a strawberry-shaped hat - though I have no photo of the latter, hopefully my kind ickle sister will have one for me.

Anyway, here's a photo of a Mondrian type of cushion, which I think works quite well. I'm thinking of making a few more of these as I really like them and cushions are much needed.

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. May 2009 be a grand year :)

And now for a little painting

Here's a little something I did during treatment. I started painting a few years ago, again through health problems, and I'm still at it. Unfortunately I don't do it regularly but there are plans to get going again, so who knows?

Knitting is so yesterday

Laura suggested I put up some of the things I've knitted in the past year, and I have to say it's a rather good idea since I'm pretty slow and who knows how long it's going to take me to finish one of my next projects.

These are scarves, obviously. I've knitted quite a few scarves in the past year - seven so far, and I'm working on my eighth. The one with the triangle pattern is proving very popular. I'm also planning on knitting one for a charity that helps older people take care of their pets when they are no longer able to do it on their own. It's a great opportunity as I'm not able to take part in one of these runs most charities seem to enjoy. Anyway, I've also knitted a couple of tank tops but I don't have any photos of them. I'll look into it ASAP.

Growing up, growing old

When I was a wee child I was basically told that I could not knit nor sew so I simply didn't bother. Now, after a prolonged and enforced period of inactivity, I've decided to prove that teacher wrong. Here's my first sewing effort - no sniggering please. A huge thanks has to go to my Mum, again, who patiently saw me through the (painful) process.

Yes, you've guessed it, it's a cushion. I popped to the fabric shop with my Mum and chose these as the colours looked good and I wanted something for my red chair. The stripy material is linen, whilst the rest is cotton - not the best of combination but it didn't prove too big a problem. I even managed to saw in a zip, which was not as complicated as I thought it might be. So not bad for a first attempt even if it was only squares.

I've since moved onto a blanket, which will keep me warm hopefully when I'm admiring the views from my new flat, and I'm knitting a scarf, too. I hate to admit it but I enjoy it.
